JET Ministry, Dartford: a Certificate of Sponsorship scam

JET Ministry, the Dartford church founded by Eri Kankabu, sells UK Certificates of Sponsorship for cash and promises a full refund if the visa is refused. The refunds never come. It is a scam, run behind a registered charity, and the church is affiliated with a parish in Lagos, Nigeria, where its agent Abimbola Oluwatosin Olusanya collects the money. Charging a worker for a Certificate of Sponsorship is illegal.

Key facts

What the labels mean
  1. Public record

Jehovah Evangelical Team (J.E.T) C.C.C Valley of Berachah Parish is a company limited by guarantee, registered at Companies House on 16 September 2016 (no. 10380556), with its registered office at 62 Spital Street, Dartford.[1]

  2. Public record

It publicly presents itself as a registered charity (no. 1181693, registered 23 January 2019), while selling Certificates of Sponsorship for money.[7]

  3. Public record

The Home Office register of licensed sponsors, published on 2 October 2026, lists the church as an A-rated sponsor on four routes. It can issue genuine Certificates of Sponsorship, so it knows a worker must never be charged for one.[8]

  4. Public record

The church belongs to the Celestial Church of Christ and is affiliated with C.C.C Afonifoji Ibukun-Olu Parish, Agiliti 1 International, at 18/20 Celestial Avenue, Agiliti (Ikosi-Ketu), Mile 12, Lagos, Nigeria. Its agent, Abimbola Oluwatosin Olusanya, is based in Nigeria and attends that parish.[5, 6]

  5. The rules

Sponsors must pay their own sponsorship fees. Since 9 April 2025 the Home Office will normally revoke the licence of a sponsor that makes a worker pay any part of its licence fee or related administrative costs, or, for a Minister of Religion, the CoS fee. It will revoke a licence if a sponsored job is not genuine.[10, 11]

What happened

JET Ministry sells Certificates of Sponsorship to people who want to work in the UK. It takes their money and promises a full refund if the visa is refused. The refund never comes.

An applicant paid JET Ministry for a Certificate of Sponsorship on exactly that promise. When they asked for the refund they had been promised, the church refused to return the money and stopped replying. We have examined the applicant’s evidence, including proof of payment and the messages in which the refund was promised.[6] We are not publishing the applicant’s name, at their request, and we are not stating the amount.

The money was arranged through Abimbola Oluwatosin Olusanya, an agent based in Lagos, Nigeria, who attends the church’s Nigerian affiliate. The scheme preys on people’s desperation to reach the UK for work.[6]

Why this is a scam

A Certificate of Sponsorship is not something you can buy. It is an electronic record with a unique reference number, which only an organisation holding a Home Office sponsor licence can issue.[9]

Sponsors must pay their own sponsorship fees. Since 9 April 2025 the Home Office will normally revoke the licence of a sponsor that makes a worker pay any part of its licence fee or related administrative costs, and, for a Minister of Religion, the CoS fee.[10, 11] It will revoke a licence where it has reasonable grounds to believe a sponsored job is not genuine.[11]

JET Ministry is a licensed sponsor. It knows a worker must never be charged for a Certificate of Sponsorship. Charging for one anyway, taking the money, and then refusing the refund it promised is a scam. The refund promise is not a safeguard. It is the bait.

What the records show

The church is a registered company and a registered charity, and it holds a Home Office sponsor licence. Its website and Facebook page present it as JET Ministry and C.C.C Valley of Berachah Parish, and the website names its founder as “JET Eri”.[1, 7, 3, 4] In its latest accounts, for the year to 30 September 2025, the charity reported income of £46,278 and spending of £27,609.[7]

Behind the charity, it runs a business selling Certificates of Sponsorship for money, which is exactly what its sponsor licence forbids.[8]

The Nigerian connection

JET Ministry is part of the Celestial Church of Christ. It is affiliated with C.C.C Afonifoji Ibukun-Olu Parish, Agiliti 1 International, at 18/20 Celestial Avenue, Agiliti (Ikosi-Ketu), Mile 12, Lagos 105102, Nigeria, which is listed publicly as a church.[5]

Abimbola Oluwatosin Olusanya, the agent who collects the money, lives in Nigeria and attends that parish.[6] The scam reaches people on both sides: the Nigerian parish, and the Dartford church that issues and then sells the sponsorship.
